Recovera never writes to the drive it is recovering from. Every drive is opened read-only, and that is enforced in the code and checked on every build.
Destination Guardrail

EXPLICIT TECHNICAL LIMITS
Honest Technical Limits
Recovera is a technician's tool built on transparent forensic standards, not a “one-click miracle app”. Please review these platform boundary rules before purchasing:
- Recovery is never 100% guaranteed: If data sectors have been physically overwritten by new data, recovery is mathematically impossible.
- Apple Silicon Internal Storage (M1 / M2 / M3 / M4): The internal SSD of an Apple silicon Mac cannot be recovered by any software, working Mac or not: its contents are encrypted by the Mac's own security chip, so reading it directly returns only scrambled data. External drives, memory cards and Intel Mac disks are not affected.
- SSDs & TRIM Command: Deleted files on modern SSDs with active TRIM are often permanently purged by drive firmware shortly after deletion.
- Passcode Policy: Recovera does not crack passwords. Encrypted Mac drives require the owner's valid password or recovery key.
- Unsupported Features: Windows BitLocker, Windows Storage Spaces, hardware RAID controllers, and partition table repair are not supported.
